Dear Yogis,
We have a great December lined up for you.
This month we have three indulgent workshops to help you reset and reground before we reach the festive period and an amazing Christmas and New Year schedule, including a special New Year Gong Bath. And if you really want to kick start the New Year, join Kasia for a beautiful retreat in the Kent Countryside in January.
Our studios have been up and running now for the last couple of weeks and we can’t thank you enough for your support, with a full schedule of 45 classes spread over Catford & Lee studios and 18 online classes for those who aren’t quite ready to return.
We also have TWO Winter Offers to help you return to your practice.
Christmas can bring up many emotions for us, so we are also taking at look at the yogic principle of Apraigraha. How to not get attached to the idea of how things should be and more to what could be.
Our teacher Francesca shares a beautiful playlistto find some peace and we have a simple and delicious mushroom curry to help warm you up.
Aparigraha – Learning to let go, is the 5th of the Yamas (the moral code of yogic living).
Most people translate the Sanskrit Aparigraha to mean non attachment, but it is also known as the code for non greed and non hoarding, all of which are very apt at this time of year.
We have struggled letting go of a lifestyle that we are use to and we are now having to change how we spend our time. In reflection, for some, this year has given us a lifestyle we could never have dreamed of, less commuting, more time with the family and more time to do the things you love.
Apraigraha invites us to look past our attached view of what could happen and have faith that whatever comes up, we are able to get through it. Each of life’s challenges are a chance for spiritual growth. To begin to practice aparigraha we have to let go of some of the physical, emotional, and mental baggage we’ve amassed throughout our journey.
When We Let Go, We Grow
Greater things come to us only if we trust that they will. And slowly as we practice aparigraha, we begin to understand what it is truly asking of us.
4 Ways To Put It Into Practice
Clean out the clutter (liberate your closets and your energy, by getting rid of all the things you don’t need)
Forgive others (make the decision to free yourself from resentment and bitterness, and become more loving)
Observe nature (nature is our most profound teacher on the inevitability of change, observe the change in seasons, and watch how life gives way to more life)
On the mat (during our practice, we have an opportunity to observe where we are clinging with our bodies and minds – in time we finally realise that in order to have a deeper experience we must be prepared to let go)
We are thrilled to be supporting the Lewisham & Greenwich NHS Trust again this Christmas. Last year we raised money to purchase toys for kids spending Christmas in the hospital and this year we will be doing it again.
We have set up a fundraiser class, but you can also donate directly.
Their Virtual Toy Appeal is now live and you can donate using the link below. Or join Kasia for her Friday Yin and Alchemy in studio or online (Friday 11th Dec) – all bookings will be transferred into a donation.

SIMPLE & YUMMY MUSHROOM CURRY
Ingredients
2 tbs olive oil
500g mixed mushrooms (we used portobello, Swiss brown and button), roughly chopped
2 garlic cloves, thinly sliced
5cm piece ginger, shredded
1 white onion, thinly sliced
1 long red chilli, thinly sliced
1 tsp ground turmeric
1 tsp ground fenugreek seeds
1 tsp black mustard seeds
1 1/2 tsp mild curry powder
500g ripe tomatoes, roughly chopped, or 400g can chopped tomatoes
1 tbs mango chutney
400ml can coconut milk
200g paneer, chopped
Cooked brown basmati rice, coriander leaves and lime wedges, to serve
Method
1. Preheat the oven to 200°C.
2. Heat half the oil in a large flameproof casserole over medium heat. Add mushroom and cook for 5-8 minutes or until softened and golden. Add remaining 1 tbs oil, then garlic, ginger, onion, chilli and spices. Cook for a further 2 minutes, stirring continuously, or until the spices are toasted and fragrant, and the onion has softened. Add the tomato, mango chutney and coconut milk, and stir to combine. Season. Bring to a simmer, then scatter over paneer.
3. Transfer to the oven and cook for 30 minutes or until the paneer is a golden colour and the curry has thickened slightly.
4. Serve the curry with rice, coriander leaves and lime wedges.
