As the end of the year draws near, it’s time to reflect and notice what this year has brought us.
Today is the Winter Solstice. Although the darkest day, it marks the start of the return to lighter days. We are going to take a deeper look into this powerful and potent day and the positive change the astrological charts have in store for us.
We are here for you throughout the festive period with a special online schedule. Only closing on Christmas and Boxing Day but you can request any class recording should you still wish to practice. We also have a special online New Year’s Day Gong Bath from Junior. This will be magical way to start the year by tuning into the universal vibrations.
We have a big thank you to you all and Kasia shares a beautiful playlist to enjoy on this powerful Solstice Day.
And there’s still a chance to buy Yoga House gift vouchers as presents, that can be emailed on Christmas Day.
Today we welcome the Winter Solstice. The darkest day of the year. The winter solstice is the day of the year with the fewest hours of daylight, and it marks the start of astronomical winter. After the winter solstice, days start becoming longer and nights shorter as spring approaches. It’s seen as time of death and rebirth. With the light coming back, it’s a time for growth, expansion and stretching ourselves & becoming more of who we are.
Some believe this Solstice marks the start of a new astrological age – The Age of Aquarius.
Planet Saturn has been in power over much of this year. Saturn has a controlling element, a patriarchal feel, lots of rules and discipline. Planet Jupiter has been rising and is more expansive, it holds wisdom and deep spiritual learning. This dance between Saturn and Jupiter has led to the breaking down of systems and conflict – which we have all felt.
Today they come into conjunction at 0 degrees of Aquarius. This is seen by some as the launch of a new time. As the planets begin to move apart, the feeling of constriction and rules will also be released. It will bring an energy of highest alignment and consciousness.
WINTER SOLSTICE RITUAL
At the darkest day it is most important to find rest and time for yourself. The winter solstice celebrates the longest hours of darkness or the rebirth of the sun and is believed to hold a powerful energy for regeneration, renewal and self-reflection. In Pagan times the winter solstice was referred to as Yule and was a celebration of the Goddess (Moon) energy. It was believed that on this day, the moon would give birth to the sun.
Gather a candle, any sage or incense you have and a note book and pen.
Find a quiet place at home and light a candle. Watch the flame dance, hold in your mind the eternal cycle of birth, life, death and rebirth. Reflect on the year past, and consider that which would benefit you to let go of. Blow out the candle and sit in the dark and the quiet for as long as you wish. When you are ready, light the candle once more, and cast intentions for the year to come.
Journal any thoughts that arise. Light the sage and incense from the candle and cleanse yourself. Bathe in the scared smoke and begin your rebirth.
Kasia has put together this beautiful playlist for you to enjoy on your Solstice. You can listen to it during your ritual, in a bath or just when you can get a few moments of peace.
If you are unable to make the time of a class, you can still book in and request a recording of the class to do later. Please email email@example.com with any requests.
