YH | Hello June! What’s Happening?

Our doors are open, the nature is in full bloom and the sun is out. Could we ask for anything more?

We hope you are slowly settling back into your new (yet again!) routine and finding all you need to feel balanced and grounded. We are so happy to see students back and feeling your energy and movement in one room together. This is what yoga is about, community, togetherness, ability to raise each other up, sharing the space and energy.

As always apart from the regular schedule we have put together some beautiful events to celebrate the power of getting together as community. With two amazing Cacao Ceremonies coming up, we thought in would be a good time to look a little deeper into this powerful plant.
Cacao literally translates to ‘Food of the Gods’ . For centuries Cacao has been seen as sacred and used in ceremonies. Used as a potent tool for inner growth and inner connection, encouraging self exploration and self discovery.

The most important active ingredient of Cacao is Theobromine. It acts specially on the cardiovascular system by raising the heart rate and dilating our capillaries and so increasing the blood flow. It literally opens the blood vessels in the body allowing more blood flow through the heart.

It’s also the biggest vegetal source of magnesium and contains large amounts of iron and other nutrients like polyphenols. It also helps create serotonin which giving a sense of wellbeing and joy in a natural and safe way. In Cacao Ceremonies, we use this sense to provide an introspective and meditative state that allows us to bring our physical energy into the emotional level.

Raw Cacao is the Earth’s natural medicine that allows us to connect to something personally within ourselves, it allow us to transform in numerous ways with our self discovery. It’s a powerful and potent medicine that can assist the ‘inner work’ and creative guidance we all need to stay balanced.

This ancient & powerful plant helps us to navigate our path back to our true essence.
We have two different workshops coming up where you can experience Cacao.*

*if you have any medical conditions please check first if this is suitable for you.

This is a super easy and super nice summer cake filled with fruit of your choice! Give it a try.
(recipe from make life easier blog)

What you will need:
cake tin  – ideally square 20″
3 eggs
200g flour
150g icing sugar
120ml oil (olive oil or sunflower oil)
1 tub of small natural yogurt
1 white chocolate bar (100g)
around 500g of apricots or other fruit you might want to use (could also be a mix 🙂 – cherries, rhubarb etc.)
zest of one lemon (use unwaxed lemons)
1 tea spoon of baking powder
1 teaspoon of natural vanilla essence

How to make it: Wash the apricots (other fruit) cut them into halves, and dispose of the stones. Whisk the eggs with icing sugar until light and airy. Add a tablespoon of oil into a small pot and melt white chocolate on low heat – keep on low heat for only few seconds, then place the pan aside – the warmth will melt the chocolate without burning it. Add yoghurt, vanilla extract, lemon zest, and the remaining oil to eggs and sugar, and mix thoroughly. Slowly pour sifted flour with baking powder.  Add melted chocolate. After combining all ingredients, turn the oven to 180ºC. Line the baking tray with baking paper.
Now cover the bottom of the baking tray with fruit (keeping some space between them), pour the cake mix over them and add the rest of fruit on top (* handy tip – place the apricots inside up, otherwise the juice will travel down during baking and may make the cake soggy).
Bake for approx. 40-45 minutes (until it is slightly curdled). Sprinkle it with icing sugar before serving.
