YH | Coming Together to Support Ukraine

Join Yoga House for an evening of sacred chants
& healing mantras, raising money for those in need

Saturday 26 March | 6-7.30pm | £15 | Catford Studio

We are excited to be holding our first Kirtan event in support of those affected by the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine. We felt offering this ancient practice was a beautiful way to bringing our community together and raise our collective vibrations. As the ancient yogic teachings say – Yoga is a path of rightful action. In the face of injustice and suffering, our duty is to help. Being on the path of Yoga, living Yoga is working with the collective awareness, living in unity and where possible offering help to those in need. Every single one of us can do something, however small, to improve the world we live in. The path of yoga invites us to move away from inaction into right action.

Join us on Saturday 26th March in Catford for this blessed session of Kirtan. All profits will be donated to support Ukraine.

What is Kirtan?

Kirtan is a yogic practice of call and response mantra chanting. The chants we sing are ancient Sanskrit mantras which are both beautiful and have a very powerful energy when chanted in community. This is a beautiful way to come together and give our donations and voice to support this crisis.
You can take this as a meditation practice, simply sit and experience, participate in the chants and you can dance, move as you wish. No experience necessary, no ‘musical ability necessary’ this is a beautiful community practice that is guided by the kirtan leader – Aleisha.
The experience of a Kirtan is often joyful, uplifting and soothing.

Meet Aleisha & the Band

This event will be guided by Aleisha, Laura on guitar and Harriet on drums and back up vocals. Aleisha is a movement facilitator, kirtanist and sound practitioner. She comes from an exercise science and yoga background but during her yoga teacher training 8 years ago she discovered a love of Nada yoga, the yoga of sound, purchased a harmonium and committed to a new relationship with sound.

Aleisha also sings and plays keyboard for an all female London band with Laura who will be accompanying for this event on acoustic guitar. Laura is a classically trained guitarist and is interested in blues and country styles.

She can be found around London playing with several different musicians covering a number of styles. Together Aleisha & Laura form a collective who host events around London to connect and celebrate musicians and artists.
