YH | Being Kind

Be Kind

We have been blessed with some beautiful Spring days and nature coming into full bloom. As we skip into Summer there is lots to be positive about, and welcome it with open arms.

As humans, we tend to run through life, not taking time to stop and really experience and feel all that is happening. The poem at the end of this newsletter really captures this.
We can get trapped in our own minds and often forget the person, friend or stranger that has annoyed you, may have their own worries. That is why it’s important to always be kind.
To be able to step back, see the bigger picture and be kind, will only come if we are first being kind to ourselves.

At Yoga House, our main purpose is to offer our community a safe space to practice, keep healthy and relax. We hope that you are able to take the tools you learn on the mat into all parts of your life. Today we look at the Yoga principle of Karma Yoga – The path of selfless action.

To share some YH love, we have a Great Offer to tell you about. We also look at the Treatments you can get at Yoga House and the new Workshops we have coming up. Both are a great way to fill your own self kindness cup up!

Mercury went into retrograde and we took a technology hit. Our usual Instagram account is currently unaccessible, so we have created a temporary one to keep you up to date.
You can find out about classes, offers, teachers, time table etc, at our new Instagram account!

Mercury retrograde is an optical illusion which means it looks as if the planet is moving backwards from our view here on earth.

Astrologers believe that during this perceived backwards motion, technology and communication could get disrupted, putting a damper on anyone’s summer mood – be careful out there!
Mercury is in Retrograde May 10 – June 3

We have added a lovely Open Level Pilates Mat Class with Esmae to our Recorded Sessions. This joins lots of other classes – Mandala with Lydia, Bowls with Kasia, Nidra with Alice + many more.

Access to the sessions is free to members and £15 a month to non members.

Just drop us an email to gain access and practice whenever you want.
Karma yoga can mean a lot of different things to different people. The general idea is taking the philosophy of yoga and putting it in action. This means stepping off of the mat and into the world. It means humbling your ego, serving your community, and being part of something bigger than yourself.

Karma yoga is the yoga of action. It’s about purifying your heart by learning to act selflessly in service of others. Through karma yoga we learn kindness and compassion without an expectation of gain. The idea being that learning these lessons helps us to step away from our ego, freeing us to move one step further on the path to enlightenment.

How to Practice Karma Yoga
Whether it’s giving a neighbour a helping hand, smiling at a stranger, connecting with a local charity – the possibilities are endless. Whatever you choose to do, making service a regular part of your life is key to practicing karma yoga.
When it comes to karma yoga, it is important that the service comes from a selfless place. It is about giving to those in need, sharing love, and spreading light. In this way, karma yoga can become more than just a practice.
It can become a way of life.

That’s right, all members are able to treat a friend or loved one to a free class on us.
Just drop us an email to book them in

A Girl Who Didn’t Stop
by Beatrice Robertson

Let me tell the tale
Of a girl who didn’t stop;
Who climbed on every mountain
Without a pause when on the top.

She’d dance in every blade of grass
Until each one was covered in dew;
The sun knew her by name
But the silver moon did, too.

For a fear had settled in her bones,
A fear of sitting still;
That if you’re not moving forward
It must mean you never will.

So in time, her dance got slower
And she looked at all she’d seen;
But found gaps inside the places
That she’d never fully been.

For she was a human doing,
Human moving, human seeing;
But she had really never taken the time
To be a human being
