SAMHAIN | HALLOWEEN | SOUND SESSION WITH LIZZY CHONG

The Celtic Festival of Samhain marks the beginning of the dark half of the year. It is a magical time. Death is followed by rebirth and while this is the end of the old year, it is the beginning of the new year. For the Celts the day did not begin at dawn, it began at sunset, it began with darkness. Light is born out of darkness, they are inseparable, interdependent & necessary. With the beginning of this dark phase comes the opportunity to rest and reflect on the past and to dream of new beginnings.

Join Lizzy Chong as she guides you through a Sound Journey on the Eve of Samhain. Collectively bathe in the therapeutic sounds of: crystal singing bowls, gongs and chimes. After preparing the body with gentle stretches and conscious breath work, allow yourself to completely switch off, let go and surrender. Invite these harmonious vibratory frequencies to lull you into a deep relaxation, at which point your body can facilitate healing on a cellular level.

SUNDAY 30 OCTOBER | 6-7PM | £25* | CATFORD

THE POWER OF SOUND … by Lizzy
Pure sound vibrations stimulate our body’s innate self-healing powers helping to unblock stuck stagnant energy stored within the body and the energy field around us. The high frequency sounds alter our brainwave activity encouraging deeper, more meditative states thus the rest , digest + repair response within our nervous system gets activated.
There have been many profound transformations and shifts experienced from the power of sound and higher states of consciousness accessed. Every sound journey will be unique to the individual and different each time they encounter one, but most people can expect to leave feeling deeply relaxed.
Our teacher Aina explains the roots and foundations of Vinyasa
Vinyasa yoga takes its roots from Ashtanga yoga. However, from the structured and set system of Ashtanga yoga, some yogis experienced a longing for more freedom in the order of poses and sequences.
Vinyasa yoga is usually recognised by smooth  transitions linked with breath where each round of sequence often leads you closer towards a peak pose.
You will also find inversions and arm balances sprinkled throughout the class, exploring different ways to enter and link poses.
The quality of this style of yoga could be experienced a an organic and fluid way of moving  through creatively formed sequences.
In vinyasa yoga there is often a fair amount of chaturangas-upward dogs- downward dogs referred to as a vinyasa which can help build your upper body strength.
Vi : in a special sacred way
Nyasa: to place
In other words , you move in a special set way with intention. Vinyasa yoga can allow you to feel meditation in movement through repetition of vinyasas and linking it with the breath.
