This weekend we have a workshop for anyone who is really looking to take their practice further. Imir is guiding you through Transitions, Chaturanga, History & Philosophy.
 
It will start with a brief introduction to yoga history and philosophy, followed by a meditation & mindful flow to warm up. You will then get onto physical and anatomical exploration of vinyasas, jump throughs, transitions, with a spotlight on the mechanics of chaturanga.

The workshop will finish with a light-hearted and relaxed discussion of yoga history & philosophy and how to apply the 8 limbs of yoga in today’s world.

Transitions, Chaturanga, History & Philosophy…what does that all mean
& why should you do this workshop?

TRANSITIONS 

Yoga transitions are poses or movements to move from one asana to the next. Just like the individual asanas, they have a purpose: They prepare the body for the next pose. In addition, they are crucial to your overall yoga practice as they help you maintain structural integrity and breathe smoothly when coming into poses.

CHATURANGA 

Chaturanga is an integral part of Vinyasa-style practices such as Sun Salutations. As such, it can serve as a powerful strength-builder for the arms, core, and the entire upper body. However, practising Chaturanga with improper alignment may put you at risk for shoulder pain or injuries. 

HISTORY & PHILOSOPHY 

The History & Philosophy of Yoga is wide and fascinating. This workshop will help you understand that the Asana practice on our mats is merely a drop into the deep ocean of Yoga. Learning Yoga’s history, where it has come from & how it has developed will expand your practice but also your mind.
