Teacher Series | Sequencing

We have curated a series of workshops for yoga teachers & any students who want to enhance or learn new skills. We have pulled on our wonderful teacher base to share their specialist areas. All workshops will have practical skills and applied tools to take directly to your own classes.

The Art of Sequencing with Lydia Bucker
Sunday 19 February 2023 | 12.45-3.45pm | Lee Studio | £35

A workshop of exploration in the language of yoga asana and how to intuitively connect our asanas to create memorable & whole practices.

We will begin the workshop by creating warmth in the body & focus in the mind with a creative physical practice. Intention setting & receptiveness to the workshop.
We will then gather to discuss ideas on how to translate what we know from how we like to move into creating a practice for others. Exploring techniques of visualisation, practice then pause, moving without intention, improvisation & then going back over that movement to see what we remember. The techniques will open up habitual and non-habitual movement patterns.

Once we have found a movement sequence that we want to stick to we will then take time understand what it is we are feeling in each moment- the posture, the transition, the moments before, the moments after and most importantly in the stillness. We will layer in dynamic shifts and changes that alter the pace and the tempo and understand both on a physical and mental level how that shifts the sensation.
Perhaps most importantly we will then work as a collective to share & translate these findings to our peers. There is huge joy in being able help others unlock or discover their physical capabilities, so we need to be able to confidently convey the movement. We will work through cueing, what’s important and how to make it accessible both with verbal & visual cues to connect with multiple learning styles.
We will then close with the time open discussion and collective play to keep the curiosity going. This workshop will be at times very intimate as well as working in groups. It will be tools that you can take and benefit from as a teacher, a student of yoga- especially one perhaps building a self-practice or to anyone who’s increasingly curious.

Welcome Back | Sasha Gabbe

Seasonal Yin Yoga Workshop | Spring
Saturday 18 March | 1.45-4.15pm | £25 | Catford

Sasha returns to Yoga House to teach a series of seasonal Yin Yoga workshops.

Drawing from the Chinese medicine model, these workshops will be based on the Five Elements of Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water and the associated Five seasons (Spring, Summer, Late summer, Autumn + Winter.)
Each workshop will be themed around the season and the energy channel of each element.  The aim is to offer you tools to support your life energy or (Qi) which circulates through the energy network within your body. This is referred to as the Meridian system.

Spring is a time of rising Yang energy. Nature is stirring all around us and we may start to feel more energised too. Spring relates to Wood, from which life grows, so this practice will nourish the Liver and Gallbladder meridian channels that relate to Wood. Spring can be a good time to start making creative plans and putting things into action.

The workshop will include Yin Yoga & Qi Gong to stimulate the meridian channels and support emotions by releasing stuck or stagnant Qi. Sasha will also demonstrate how we can use acupressure points to help calm the mind and support the body as well as breath work and other seasonal wisdom.
