The Art of Sequencing and Hands on Assisting

Autumn 2026

20hr CPD for sequencing and hands on assisting

This 20-hour Sequencing & Hands-On Assisting course gives yoga teachers the foundations to create fun and intelligent Vinyasa sequences and foundations to apply touch safely and effectively by working with body alignment and breath. You will gain practical tools and confidence to offer hands-on support in a clear, respectful and purposeful way.

When combined with intelligent sequencing, hands-on assisting becomes a powerful teaching skill. Thoughtful sequencing prepares the body step by step, while skilful assists help students access postures safely, refine alignment and deepen their experience of the practice.

Respectful human touch can be profoundly supportive. Many students come to yoga for its therapeutic benefits, and mindful assists can help release physical tension, support better alignment and encourage deeper awareness of breath and movement.

In this CPD you will explore:

  • Foundation on how to build intelligent class sequences, Vinyasa Krama
  • The root of Vinyasa yoga and the power of breath
  • Closer look at asanas, how to categorise them and use effectively for inteligent sequencing
  • The energetic flow of Vinyasa wave
  • Different sequencing structures
  • Group work building effective sequences for all levels
  • The power of themes and how to integrate them
  • Why, when and how to offer hands-on assisting
  • The difference between assisting and adjusting
  • Foundations of safe and effective adjustments
  • Using breath to guide touch
  • Building trust and consent with students
  • Working with different body types
  • Self-preservation for teachers while assisting
  • Practical feedback and post training homework

Gain practical tools and confidence to offer clear, respectful and purposeful support to your students.

Thoughtful sequencing prepares the body step by step, while skilful assists help studnets access postures safely, refine alignment and deepen their experience of the practice.

This training will help you bring fresh inspiration and confidence to your teaching, integrating both sequencing and assisting to create more supportive and intelligent yoga classes.
